New Heritage Trails in Moycullen

The launch of three Maigh Cuilinn heritage trails takes place from 11:00am to 3:00pm on Saturday 20th August at An Fuarán. The trails are designed to bring walkers down rambling country lanes, through woodland paths, along river banks and many other interesting local roads. Sites of interest include mythological and ancient sites, castles, churches, famine villages, ruins of old cottages and numerous other points of interest.

This weekend marks the start of Heritage Week and guided walks of each of the three trails will be available as follows:

  1. Killarainey Woods Walk (Yellow Route)    (20th August – 11am)
  2. Sean Reilig Loop Walk (Purple Route)       (21st August – 11am)
  3. Killagoola Loop Walk (Orange Route)       (27th August – 11am)

The heritage trails were developed by Cumann Staire Ruaidhrí Uí Fhlaitheartaigh – Moycullen Historical Society with sponsorship and support of MCDA, Rosaleen Ní Shúilleabháin/Forum Connemara, Galway County Council, Moycullen Tidy Towns,Mowlam Healthcare, Connemara Marble, Centra, SuperValu,  Sweeney Oil, ECC, O’Connor’s  Allcare Pharmacy, Lydon’s Carpets, The Forge, The Coach House, The White Gables, Michelle Burke, Loughwell Pet Farm and Tony’s Diner.
