This year has been named the year of the Irish language “Bliain na Gaeilge 2018”. Conradh na Gaeilge, Gaeilge Mhaigh Cuilinn and Foras na Gaeilge have combined to commerate the founding of the Moycullen brnch of Coradh na Gaeilge on the 5th of February 1899 on the actual anniversary Monday 5th Feb 2018. The leacture will be by Dara Folan will be held at Teach na Gaeilge (behind Áras Uillin) at 8pm.

This May Bank Holiday will see Connemara Mountain Walking Festival, formerly Leenane Mountain Walking Festival, celebrate it’s 10th anniversary. Each year the organisers offer stunning walks to suit all abilities and like the name states, they bring people to the summit of the local mountains. The Moycullen heritage calendar will be on sale at SuperValu, Moycullen on Saturday and Sunday. `The calendar was produced by Cumann Staire Ruaidhrí Uí Flaithbheartaigh – Maigh Cuilinn and contains photos of school children attending local schools from the 1930s through to the 1970s. It’s a top quality print and will make a great souvenir and wonderful Christmas present.
